As I said in an earlier post Ive been under the weather for the last week, so I went to the doctor and was told I may be intolerant to gluten (Wheat, Rye, Barley) and to cut them from my diet entirely. The diagnosis is not definitive at this point, we are still awaiting the results of some test he took. In addition to that I am currently Lactose intolerant. So as you can see my options are pretty narrow, luckily there is a health food store near my office that carries a wealth of gluten free foods. Its been tough but not that bad to be honest, I just need to do a lot of thinking and be creative when I eat; the most difficult part is eating on the run.
The three things I will miss the most are beer, pizza, and rolls. On a lighter note I feel much better and have found a gluten free brewery. Its just a bit strange to be told you are intolerant to something that is a part of most staple foods; I would have never guessed grains could be bad for me. Some call this the Celtic disorder, being that its very common in the descendants of the Celts, something like 1 in every 130 people of Irish heritage have it weather they know it or not. Thats pretty alarming considering the number of people in the states that claim Irish ancestry. This impacts other people from that part of Europe. The book my doctor told me to read is very interesting and informative. I guess only positive things can come out of all this, my diet will improve and hopefully Ill gain a few pounds in the process, the important thing is that I am feeling better. Aside from that everything is good, I am patiently waiting for my Mac to arrive, hopefully it will be here mid week. Thanks to those of you that gave me advice on the Mac I really appreciate it.
