Today I'm in a very bad feeling so I will speak bout rape.

Facts about rape

- There are 50 000 raped women in France. We are 60 millions in France.

Definition of rape in France

Rape is a penetration with a sexual intention in the mouth, the anus or the vagina.
This is a definition in the law. What does it mean ?
It means only the "inside" of women is considered as important. If a rapist is not able to rape you (erection problem) but touched you during hours and hours, it is not a rape and he only can have 2 or 3 months of jail.


Definition of rape in Canada
That's why Canada in 1983 decides to change the law.
There are 3 levels in Canada :
- a sexual attack. it involves sexual exhbition, rapes, touch a person in sexual parts of his/her body.
- a sexual attack with agression. for example a punck in the face or carry a gun or a knife.
-a sexual attack where you have been mutilated.

Particularities of rape in french law
Rape is the only case in law where cops can do an inquiry about the victim. They can speak to your neighbours, your friends, your co workers, your parents. They can ask if you used to have many sexual partners, if you are depressed.
You can let be in the same room as your rapist.


Particularities of rape in societies
Rape is a commom way of training powerty. Sometimes it is the normal way of having sex. An african tribe only admit rapes as sexual relations between men and women.
In Japan a raped woman has to show how much she resists to her rapist. The rape in Japan is considered as taking something to the husband. Is was the same feeling in France until the 19th century.

Particularities of rape in general

- When someone steal your house, nobody will tell you "why don't you stay at home ?". When you habe been raped, cops, family, friends can tell you that. You are the first guilty.

- When you try to forget the rape, you are considered as an unormal person. You have to suffer when you have been raped. i'm not saying rape is not an awful crime and a real suffering. I'm just saying a woman who says "I'm been raped and now I'm ok" ; is bad considered. You have to stay bad.

Fear of rape
When you are a girl, society (school, parents...) tells you "be careful, streets are dangerous for you".
You grow up with this feeling without understanding what it really means.
Fact is : men are more murdered as women in the streets in all the countries. So why all people told to women to be careful ? Because rape is worse considered as murder. It shows us rape is the worse thing which can happen to a girl. It is not.

so girls grows up with the fear of rape. Some girls I know can not just open the door to the postman because they are too afraid. When someone came in their house to repair toilets or sinks, they call boys or fathers. They don't live anymore.

Self defense
Self defense is useful when women have trust in themselves. Self defense will be useful when a woman will consider rape as a normal attack.
Germain Greer explains how women are scared by exhibitonists even they are not dangerous. It show us how a penis is considered as a wseapon by some women.

Conclusion
We have to understand how society consider rapes.
The only fact who is considered is the act of raping. Society never works on the feelings who push some men to rape women.
Society don't discourage rapes.
