A gang boss and four other men have been arrested for using a counterfeit 10,000-yen note at a stall of a famous temple in Tokyo on New Year's Day, Tokyo police said Monday.
Yoshiyuki Yamagishi, 63, leader of a gang affiliated with the Inagawa-kai crime syndicate, and four other men are accused of using counterfeit currency.
Suspecting that they used several fake 10,000-yen bills bearing the serial number, VJ838046M, which has been widely found in the capital recently, investigators are grilling them over how they obtained the fake money.
