Three operators of a nursing school here were arrested Sunday for cooking books to receive government subsidies, then using the money received to pay back loans taken out with the yakuza, police said.
Mikio Umetani, 71, former president of the Heiwa Gakuin foundation operating the Heiwa Gakuin nursing school in Koshigaya, Takao Akiyama, 41, and Yasushi Izawa, 65, past and current employees, were arrested for fraud and for breaking the law related to government subsidies.
