Three people were found dead in two locked cars after they apparently committed suicide by burning charcoal and briquettes to poison themselves, police said.
Odawara Police Station officers arrived on the scene to find the bodies of a 55-year-old man from Tokyo and a middle-aged woman.
They also found burnt charcoal in a pan inside the car, leading police to believe they had committed suicide.
The officers found a station wagon only 13 meters away, in which another man, 33, from Minamiashigara, Kanagawa Prefecture, was found. There were burned briquettes in a portable stove inside the station wagon.
The Saitama District Court sentenced an 18-year-old girl to an indeterminate prison term of five to 10 years Thursday for abetting the murder of her former boyfriend by urging her gangster lover to commit the crime.
The girl suggested to Hidenori Ogata, 27, a former gangster, that he kill Hideaki Suzuki, 28, on Aug 18 last year when she was 16 years old, the ruling said. Her name is withheld because she is a minor.
