three years ago today at this time i was covering a shift i wasn't normally on...the morning crew was lame but there i was in the audio booth of the control room waiting for the today show to hand us the baton so we could run a local news break just like they always do.

then the first plane hit. then the second. the third. the fourth.

that morning spent in the control room of an nbc affiliate watching america be attacked will forever haunt me.

they killed over three thousand people because they do not like us.

and now they're killing children.

fuck.

whatever you do today, take a moment and forget politics and rememebr the people that died three years ago today.

Oh and yes, it seems eerie and strange... all morning I've been thinking about it... let's hope we can move forward to a more unified world, a more compassionate world, a world where things like this never happen again.

yeah, a new unified world order where compassion and its kin are instinct and not self-serving misanthropy. for the sake of mankind's future, this has to happen.

but it won't be easy.

see, unfortunately, people like bush and blair (and now putin) are right -- preemptive action is the only route we have available to us.

like warren ellis, these leaders have realized if you do not kill the supervillain at the end of the story, he will without a doubt reappear in later issues and make your life a living hell.

i'm not saying comic books should set political doctrine or any some such, i'm saying that it's a lesson we should pay attention to.
