This weekend was the weekend of FRIENDS! And now I am recovering.
Friday was Thomas' show. Chris and I drove down to the shitty sports bar he was playing in Burbank, where we met up with Carlos, Cameron, Anastasia and Jeremy. Chris snapped photos of the show while Carlos and I talked about the PhD program he is going into in El Salvador.
After the show we all (plus half a dozen of Thomas' other friends) headed over to the pub next door for better drinks. Chris, Carlos and I talked about the DREAM act, foster care, identity politics, etc. Later, there was drunken singing and group hugging. As things wound down Chris, Thomas, Carlos and I all headed over to NoHo Diner, where we basically sat around and gave Thomas shit for being sheltered.
Saturday night I headed over to Savannah's. Met some of her friends, nice chicks. We played ten fingers, some apples to apples, had some drinks. Amanda called me while I was there, she and Savy's friend Kate happen to be courting each other over in Austin, so we spent a good ten minutes giving Amanda advice about how to approach Kate. We gathered around the comp for a while and check out/mocked people on OKC.
Sunday was Amy & Ben's Festivus party. Started out boring, but as the people I'm neutral on left and the people I'm close with arrived things picked up. John's spawn was there, being all genius-like. We played some board games, which, with all of our cursing and snooty art references ended up being a lot more fun than it sounds. Ben and Amy loved their gifts. It looks like Amy & Evan are on the road to getting back together, which make me really happy, their break up was just wrong. Spent the rest of the night with Chris.
Monday I went over to T.'s to celebrate his last payment on his student loans. Debt-freeness! We had a few drinks and spent the night couch cuddling. Weird Spanish-language movies about Santa Clause were watched.
House-sitting starts Friday. On season 6 of Sopranos. If I can just get passed X-mas, I know, from experience, that everything will start getting better.
