I have to say, the Europeans have it all wrong. Because they charge for the use of toliets, everyone pees everywhere. As soon as I arrived at the main train station, I head for the subway and there is some guy peeing in the subway station! This is not the first time I have been exposed to it, actually it is a common occurance. I even saw some mother letting her little son pee on a wall in front of a church! Not to mention that just about anywhere you go in Europe the streets smell like pee!
Anyways enough with that rant. Belgium is a place that I could totally see myself getting fat in. The chocolates and waffles are amazing!!!! I tried the local specialty of mussels, and they were good. While I was walking around Brussels for the first time, I noticed all these little stands selling snails. So I had a go at it. They werent too bad, a little spicy for my tastes. I cant even tell you how many waffles with whip cream and strawberries I had!!!
I feel lucky because I was in Brussels at the right time! Every two years, for one weekend in mid August in the main square, they make a really huge carpet of flowers arranged in intracate designs. It was really nice.
While in Brussels I stayed at a hostel where Vincent Van Gogh supposedly worked at one time. Kinda neat!
I also had a nice time trying to use the French I learned in high school and college.
I am happy to report that I finally found a beer that I like (and Belgium was just the place, because they are famous for their beers, there are like 200). It is called Kriek, and it is a cherry beer, yummy.
Right now I am in the Stockholm Central train station awaiting a midnight train to Osterlund (halfway up Sweden).
