Salzburg is amazing. Thats all there is to it. A small city in the valley between two mountains, Salzburg is the place to be.
Arrived yesterday from Wien (Vienna). Got lost trying to find my hostel, which really sucked because it was rather hot outside. So after walking around for about thirty minutes, I finally found the place. It is alright, but I have been dissapointed at the last few hostels because there are no cooking facilities for guests to use. Sure they have a kitchen and serve overpriced meals, but since I am on a budget, I prefer to cook at least one meal a day. Oh well.
After I dropped my bags in my room, I decided that I desparetly need to find something to eat because I hadnt eaten all day! I find myself eating the local fastfood while I am here, just because it is cheap. I found a nice little wiener stand and had a good bratwurst with saurkraut. MMMMMMMMMMMMMM.
Then I was walking around somemore, since that is what i do, and I stumbled upon a stand that does all kinds of tours of the surrounding areas. So I thought, what the heck, I should go on one. (I have only gone on one guided tour on this trip, that was in England. After looking over the choices, I decide to do the Lakes District tour. There are over 50 lakes in this area, and if they all looked like the 4 I saw, they are stunning. The tour was four hours long and included a boat crossing across the St. Wolfgang Lake.
As we were riding on the bus and boat, I noticed lots of people swimming in the river, which is very clean. I decided that weather permitting, I am going swimming in a lake tomorrow. In my hostel room, I met a girl from Malaysia who studies at OU in the US, and she wants to go swimming too. Hopefully the weather will be nice.
Today I woke up and walked around the old town. Took the cable car up to the castle and had a great view of the town. Then I walked down and ended up at a spectacular church with an neat graveyard and catacombs. The catacombs are closed on mondays so Ill have to go tomorrow.
Next stop is Cesky Krumlov, a small medevil town in Czech Republic, then it is off to the party center of europe, Prague.
