Most of you probably missed my last entry, so go back and check it out!
Got up this morning and headed for the train station. Bought my ticket with no problem. Boarded the train, ended up in a compartment with a 17 yr old Romanian (fluent in Eng.), 2 polish people living in canada, and 2 Romanians.
All kind of beggars everywhere...I forgot to tell y'all about the beggars in Bulgaria, they will put a scale out and a cup on the street. Someone told me that this is the socially appropriate way to beg so that you get something for your money. In Italy there were men in the trains playing the acordian and having a little boy no older than 6 going around with a hat. And of course there are tons of women will little babies begging. Before the train left Bucharest, some beggar came into our compartment and started kissing feet until someone gave him something.
This was the nicest train i've been on so far in Eastern Europe. You should've seen the train that I rode from Veliko Tarnovo to Bucharest, the toliet was just a hole...YUCKY!!! The train ride was absolutely stunning, I love the Mountains and lush forests!!! I have already decided I will stay here for 3 nights! Tonight I am planning on going to see the bears. Apparently every night, around 10 pm the bears (like 15 bears) come to these dumpsters and eat. Lots of people go and see them. I saw the pictures, you can even feed them (although I think I'll pass on that one). I've got to say that Romania is an unknown jewel. It has everything, beaches, mountains, forests, plains..everything except a dessert, but who needs that anyways???
This hostel that I am staying it is really nice, free laundry, 1 free beer, free breakfast, 1 hour of free internet....And the staff is really helpful.
I forgot to tell you about the near accident i had in Veliko Tarnovo. I was walking around the streets (which are all really steep and of stone) and I fell in a hole, twisting my ankle. It hurt really bad and I was sure I had sprained/broken it. Oh my God, I was thinking "Oh great, here I am in the middle of a small town, where no one speaks English and I hurt my self, just great!!!" But I just walked it off and it isn't even bruised. Talk about luck!
Not very many people speak English, but that is half the fun (unless i guess if you hurt yourself)! Trying to order stuff at resturants is different. Anytime I go to a resturant I ask for a menu in English, and half the time it is in real broken english. Haven't eaten at very many resturants. I have to admit though, I have eaten at McDonalds a few times, just because. I can't believe they are everywhere!!!
On Sunday I plan on going on a tour of 3 different castles in the area, including Vlad's (Dracula). Supposed to be really cool.
After Brasov, I will go to Sighosoara, which is a small town where Vlad was born. Nice resturant there in the house...nice and SPOOKY MUWHAHAHAHAHA.
Well, that's it for now... I feel like uncle traveling matt from the Fraggles for those who remember that show.
