Hi Sg,
I figured it was a good time to catch up with some of the blog homework since it's been a while since I wrote new stuff here that is positive and not just about my shoots :P
My dearest friend ever here on SG @bristole actually had posted about me being her platonic love and it took me a few days to respond because of life being so chaotic at the time, but what was funny about it to me was the fact that it was such a coincidence since I had just used our friendship to describe what a platonic love or friendship is to a former co-worker that same week <3 it was lovely to see how our minds at times just seem connected.
It is hard navigating friendships as is but when you are from different cultures is sometimes harder but @bristole always have brightened my days. Being friends with Bristole has helped me understand how part of the culture in the USA is, we've gone through our ups and downs. I'm happy about it because those moments are what make friendships become more stable and durable, being able to navigate together the uncertainty and the difficulties, at least that's the way it is for me.
Bristole, makes me try new things, is always there emotionally for me. The truth is they are the first person I ever approached to ask to hopefully shoot together, I was worried to seem creepy, Bristole is gorgeous and I'm kind of a weirdo at times, I don't have a good poker face so sometimes you can read my sarcasm miles away and I sometimes do shy away from life in general, but it's impossible to be sarcastic around Bristole, they are the sweetest, kindest person ever.
I was lucky that we worked together in the same job for a while, but more than that I'm lucky to still call them my friend, as our lives evolve I just hope we get to remain close through time physically and figuratively, it's not easy to make long-lasting friends and to find people that understand you, want to share their lives with you and support each other is literally finding 1 in a million. I hope we travel together more and keep growing together <3
Here are a few snaps from our adventures!
More images under the spoiler! ;)
Must watch list....
So personally I'm not gonna say I watch the best shows or anything (I watch a lot of killing time stuff to shut my brain off at night or while I'm editing I watch things I don't need to pay attention to)
However I looooove me a good show for sure.
A couple of shows I just started watching during the shelter-in-place/quarantine time and think are awesome so far! (I'm just going to kind of describe it basically to avoid spoiling it)
DEVS: omg out of the 2 this is probably my top, top favorite, it's science fiction which I love and is set in the Bay Area (hahaha not a real reason to love it but hey it's nice to see the streets I know) other than that I love the storyline and the tension and the show speed seems slow but the time of each episode kind of flies by >_< You can watch it on Hulu.
Dispatches from Elsewhere is a show I honestly started watching just because I was waiting for the walking dead to begin (And I'm tired of the walking dead but because I've seen all the episodes I keep watching lol)
Dispatches from Elsewhere kind of made me feel it was directed at me in the first episode, not because of the style of the show and the production but just the storyline of the first character made me laugh and connect immediately.
It's kind of like an off-key storyteller show with 4 or 5 key characters but is different than a bunch of stuff I have watched, its light and entertaining. It's fiction but it's good.
Other shows I've enjoyed and will keep your mind off of the current issues:
Humans
The O.A.
Killing Eve
West World
Vikings
Better Call Saul
Law & Order: SVU (of course)
I watch also a lot of crime documentaries but have been staying away from stuff that makes me sad to avoid extra unnecessary feelings while we get over the Covid.
What shows do you love that are science fiction that I should check out next?
Until next time, stay safe.
xoxox,
Mary
