I've been loving reading all the experiences of all the other members and girls and photographers <3 oh SG land we all love you, so here is my story.
I joined SG in 2007 while I was still living in Venezuela, a girl that I knew in college mentioned that she wanted to be an SG and well, nudity in such a Catholic land is super taboo though we see all those Miss Venezuela's and other models in swimsuits everywhere, oh the irony :P
Anyway, I checked it out, bought me a 3 month membership and had a self-shot set because I wanted to be an SG back then too, my set was hilarious, inside a closet, very colorful and really bad lighting and there was no member review then, so I had around 4 rejected sets, SG inspired me to learn more and taught me a lot of photography as well and I used many of the photos for my design projects in school. I went from being in Engineering to Design school because I was more a creative person than anything and SG pushed my creativity somehow.
As years went by I invited all of my friends to join SG, real life best friends such as @araid @miss3ing and others I don't remember their names in here ended up joining me and we would talk about sets at the university, is like we had an extra secret place :P
I then traveled a lot to different countries and in 2009 had the luck to be hosted by SG @auriga in NY before she was an SG, I was so happy she later on turned into one because she's amazingly beautiful inside and out and such a smart and kind soul, that was my only time in NY and first interaction with somebody from SG, it was great, I wanted to shoot other girls but never found anybody in Venezuela down for the challenge.
Afterwards I met @blargzilla in early 2010 and decided to go to Portland, he hosted me, we had some drama and we ended up being roommates for 3 months and still are real life friends nowadays.
I met a guy and thought, fuck I want to come be in the USA with him, so a year later moved to SF to go to my masters degree and even though I got dumped a month later after i moved to live here in the Bay, I met more people that were super friendly and nice.
@dpgc44 asked me to hang out and we became friends, I met some other folks I can't recall their SG names as well and shot my first set of a hopeful.
Anyway, time has gone by and fuck SG keeps just expanding my photo adventures, getting to know more people and is still a place where even though I don't come to rant as much as I used to about the real world is a place where I feel happy to say whatever I want and still learn and get entertained by the many groups and reading about other people across the globe.
I met the gorgeous SG @paprika and call her my friend nowadays, she connected with me through the SF group when she moved out here in 2013, she currently assist my shoots with other hopefuls and coaches them on posing and shares my laughter :)
I have had the chance to meet several times the gorgeous hopefuls @nubia @avaroulette and @skogsra which I love dearly and have had the chance to shoot sets for and also for other hopefuls I cant wait to have their sets out such as @davieduke @indirose @inoridanger @astr0 and @lexirae_wolfe @dk (sorry for any other hopeful I forgot tagging)
SG has given me the chance to also meet @rambo which is so sweet and see all the girls dancing at the show, it has pushed me to go 0ut of my comfort zone and somehow motivated me into a career as a photographer.
To end my story, I have now graduated from my masters and hope to stick around the USA for a bit hopefully shooting more for SG as well as for my own projects, have found a job in LA that lets me work from all the way out here in the Bay and hope to marry my best friend soonish.
Here's to many more years in SG land meeting new friends :)
Ps: here's a "old gone preview" of my first ever self shot rejected set and the hopeful tshirt that existed back then too.
