I've posted this in the Dog Group as well - sorry if you're seeing it again!
This is Seymour. He came to the rescue I volunteer for this week, after being in a shelter for an undetermined amount of time. His teeth are rotten. His nails are so long they have curved around towards his pads. He shakes terribly most of the time. He is horribly underweight. Seymour also has hardly any control over his back end. He kind of shuffles around on his front legs, almost like a seal. He has to be carried outside to do his business.
Despite all of his challenges, despite everything he has been through, he is such a happy dog. His tail is constantly wagging. He laps up attention as though it were a yummy treat. I dont think Ive ever felt so welcomed home as I was today - Seymour was sat at the base of the stairs, tail wagging, just waiting to give kisses and receive rubs.
Seymour likely will not live long. We are working with his vet to ensure that he is not in pain, and we are going in for a consultation on his teeth this weekend - were hoping against hope that he would survive the surgery - having those teeth removed would greatly improve his quality of life. Heckler is going to try to build Seymour a cart to get around in.
Our goal is to keep him healthy, happy and loved until he is ready to pass on.

In other news....
I'm working a lot, which is kind of good, I guess. It's nice to be able to pay bills again! What I don't like is not being home when the kids get home from school, and not being home until dinnertime. I'm exhausted by the time I get home - standing all day is hard after having hip surgery 7 months ago. Heckler works even longer hours than me, so we don't get to spend as much time together as we'd like.
We got a cute little foster kitten last week. Our son asked to name the new lil guy, and he came out with the name Wil Wheaton
He loves The Big Bang Theory, which is kind of funny, because he's only seven. I should mention, too, that he gets VERY upset if we just call the kitten "Wil" - I can't tell you how often I hear, "It's Wil Wheaton Jr., Mom!"
Wil's brother is coming to stay with us tomorrow, as he is not currently thriving in his foster home. I love babeh kittehs![smile](https://dz3ixmv6nok8z.cloudfront.net/static/img/emoticons/smile.0d0a8d99a741.gif)

Poor baby. I hope he continues to experience nothing but love and comfort.

You both provide such a warm and safe home. Hopefully you will get more time off to enjoy it together one of these days.
