CoyoteMike got me hooked on an amazing series of books by Simon R. Green. I've devoured 5 of the books since he sent them to me.... so that's a book every two days or so. They are a very cool kind of noir detective series, with monsters and gods and all kinds of bizarro stuff.

Our new puppy is amazing. I wish I had more pictures of him to share. Heckler *just* found his camera charger, so I promise to take some pics soon. Heckler took this pic the night we got him home.

Barkley is 5 months old now, and we've had him for just less than a month. He sleeps in his crate all night without a sound and has done since the first night we had him. He fetches AND gives the toy back when we say "give" - which is completely amazing, neither Heckler or I have ever had a dog that has known to do that
Barkley is a total snuggle monster, and the best part is that he seems to love everybody; the pug we had been fostering seemed to be a one person kind of dog, but Barkley is just as happy to be on our son's lap as he is on mine or Heckler's lap. Barkley will sit for his leash to be put on and taken off. He's learning to go to the door when he has to pee, but he's become fond of lifting his leg on the kitty litter box. We're getting there with the whole house-training thing; basically, we take him out every hour or so. I think he'll be more willing to do his business outside when it isn't so cold and rainy. Poor Barkley's little legs are so short that his tummy fur gets all wet from the grass.
I'm not sure if I mentioned this in a previous blog, I might have... anyhow, Heckler really got attached to one of our feral foster kittens, and decided to keep him. He was named by one of the girls at the vet office "Bee" as in "B for Boy." Bee's sister was caught just a day or two after, and the same girl named her "Boo" - we renamed her Honey, because we didn't want to put on the rescue website "For Adoption: Boo & Bee"
Back in October, Honey & Bee were adopted out together, but were returned to us after about two weeks. It took both of them a long time to trust us again, after such a traumatic experience, but they came around. Honey found a lovely home with a co-worker of my mom's - she is completely spoiled. Bee is 8 months old today, and he's um, well, he's enormous. He is MUCH bigger than Barkley, and is just as big as our two adult male cats (also former fosters)... and he's still growing. He looks as though he may have a bit of Maine Coon in him, which would help to explain his size. We're really gonna have to watch him with food, because, man, he's already pretty dang chubby.

I'm sure that you're thinking the same thing I am/was...and you're 110% right. I'm glad to know that I wasn't wrong...and that other people can realize that as well.

I haven't been on lately. My membership ran out for like 2 months but I'm glad to hear your surgery went good and you're healthy again.
