Here are our photos from Christmas 2010

My mom and Heckler

Christmas Dinner

Turkey

My ex, trocar came to stay for three weeks with us. His brother came for four days as well.

Reading Twas the Night Before Christmas (my daughter is sitting on her dad's lap on a chair out of the photo)

I had to work for New Years, so we don't have any photos from that night. The fella I care for had lots of plans - we were at a pub, a casino, and then at a friend's house. Heckler was able to come with me, which was fantastic. We didn't get into bed til 5am
We are officially old, we slept for most of the next day

Waiting for the ferry to Vancouver

Mmmmm, ferry poutine!

Just after the ferry ride was the short trip to the airport. We said our goodbyes (tearfully!) and I went right back to the ferry terminal. It was a long trip home by myself
Not as long as Heckler's, mind... he didn't get home til the next morning
On Tuesday, we got some news regarding his immigration process - though we still don't know what the decision was! The update on our online file said that Immigration Canada would contact Heckler via snail mail. We're both really anxious, but I did some research online, and I *think* the verdict will be positive. He's done everything he was supposed to (medical exams, police record checks, allllll that paperwork), and we checked and rechecked that our package was complete. I can't see them denying him permanent residence without so much as an interview. Please keep your fingers crossed for us!
Tonight is my first weekend back at work, and I totally don't wanna go! I have good news on the job front though!!! I visited the local job search centre for some help with finding something I can do (I walk with a cane, and I think a lot of employers turn me down because of it). As it turns out, I qualified for some technical training, through a program with the Ministry of Education. I went to a meeting yesterday at the college and I was accepted into some office training courses, along with bookkeeping and file management. Eeeeek! So excited. I go for the first time on January 19th
