One of the things that I miss alot about loving in Alberta is thunderstorms. I don't think there has been one in Victoria since I moved here a year ago. Apparently they are very rare here. But I just love love love thunderstorms.
They are really sexy for some reason. They turn me on. Just all the electricity that is in the air, and the sounds of the wind and the rain and the thunder. They are so dramatic and theatrical, especially in the huge skies of the praries. They are dangerous, yet hypnotizingly beautiful.
I also miss the northern lights. If you've never seen them, I don't even know how to describe them to you. They are something that you have to see to believe because they are so surreal. You have to wait until it's really really cold, and then on a clear night if you are lucky you can see them. They dance and shimmer and if you listen closely, they even make noise. The best northern lights I have ever seen were green and blue and stretched out in ribbons all across the sky. It was on my 16th birthday, and they were my favorite birthday present.
That's the thing about the weather in Alberta. It's extreme, yet beautiful.
The weather in Victoria is like a kitten. It's pleasant, docile, pleasing. It makes people happy, and even during the rainy season it is still quite mild.
The weather where I came from, however, is more like a tiger. It's awe-inspiring, in a terrifying way. It takes your breath away with it's beauty, but it could also kill you within a few minutes if you are not careful.
But yeah, I really miss thunderstorms.
But I must go eat now, because I didn't have dinner before dance practice and it's almost 11 o'clock!
How about you guys, what is your favorite kind of weather?
