Yesterday i go into work and try to turn on my computer. It won't boot. I knew what was wrong with it and could have fixed it in 15 minutes, but i knew IT would get pissy, so i let them know. A guy came over and tried to fix it, but when he started, the power went out and stayed out for two hours. When it came back on, the guy came back and tried to fix it again, but couldn't, so he took it away to fix it. They loaned me the laptop so i could do some work, but unfortunately the work i did for the past two weeks was on the hard drive. So the first four hours of that day were wasted, and after lunch i had to remake some of the work i had done, with an hour safety meeting thrown in there. Today i show up and he says he'll bring the computer back to me with a different hard drive. After seven hours of doing nothing waiting for him, he finally brings it back and gets it set up so i have a nice 30 minutes left of the day to do work. That brings the total to 3.5 hours of work in two days, and i now know the IT people are completely incompetent. I guess that's why it takes 3 minutes to load a project off of the server when most of the files are on my computer......
