Well, I asked for permission to do Clerks...and I lost.
No word from the man himself of course, but apparently the policy towards stage productions of Clerks is "thanks, but no thanks."
Great.
36 pages of writing up in smoke.
So, yes. I'm feeling pretty fucking lousy. If I get bad word on my TV script too? A bit of mopage will be on the cards for a day or so. I'll be fine after that. Soldier on, as ever I do. Sounds sad, but I need to deal. What's the deal? You say. Why are you so bothered?
Here's why:
BECAUSE ITS ONE OF THE ONLY DAMN THINGS I'M GOOD AT. I'm not a comedian, though I try. I'm not good enough an actor. I'm not a model. I'm too nice and clean to be a goth. There are a billion things I am not. Writing? That's something I CAN do. So when my endeavours prove either fruitless or obsolete...it does get to me. because I then feel less than what I am.
Perhaps I'm being over-dramatic. I probably am, come to think of it. I'll feel fine soon, no doubt. But...you know...it does make me sad for a while
Edit: Feel better now, but thought I might point out I was adapting Clerks because I'm in a theatre group that adapts source material.
