Incumbent as I am
I allow the healing waters (in lieu of Summer's promise)
to arrive once more,
to harvest even the deserts of the Moon
is a dream a long way away,
away from your walls,
from my favourite oppressions,
lost to do as I please,
faith is harder to need as you no longer lay me down,
let me go,
let me swim for a short time
in the sweet ether of oblivion.
I left my packed suitcases hiding by the door,
how could you think I would not leave?
as you comforted me,
fluffed the pillows and stroked my head,
did you really think that I would not die?
drawn inside to your warmest spots
the ghosts of our affection sleep eyeless and blind,
slowly waiting to be saved.
Innocence wandering East on the crest of a wave,
a cruel promise I no longer regret,
I'll bathe silently in my lonesome hours,
and if one day you should see me in a crowd
raise your hand and smile,
for this death was only the release from my Earthly trial.
