Sorry I haven't been on lately. I'm finally back to work in full force.
I'm hearting a brand new girl (that other thing fell through... damn I suck at this). I think I need to buy one of those relationship's for dummies books.
Watched Brokeback Mountain today. What can I say about that film? It definitely did not deserve best picture. My opinion is that it was a very poor film that was made incredibly well. The acting was great, and there were some powerful scenes; but the director needed to spend some more time in the cutting room. The movie was just too long and dis-interesting. Two many unnecessary characters and side scenes.
My only criticism of the acting was "the big love scene" in which these two men explore a new dimension of their sexuality. I had trouble believing that Heath Ledger didn't know what he was doing. He just slicked it up like a pro then gave'r like a champion. Honestly... slick and a whammy... like he'd been doing it for years.
I thought the cinematography was good, as was the progression of time.
In any case, I didn't find it the 'awe inspiring' story of the humn spirit that it was made out to be; nor was it the 'compelling' story of an internal struggle between personal desires and societal norms.
My advice is if you want to see a good movie about homosexuallity... watch Rent.
WHAMMY!!
