I had an unbelievable saturday!! I went to see Otep in concert in town. I have become involved with a media company and went to the show to take pics and do a review. I got a call from the pr person from Capitolrecords asking if I wanted to do an interview.....
WOW! I was stunned at first. Of course I said yes. I talked to the very talented Otep herself for about 50 minutes before the show.
Here I will leave you guys with the review I posted, and a little peak some pics I took there!
Baltimore, Maryland
Fletcher's Bar
SOLD OUT
The_Ascension Tour
December 2nd, 2006
Otep's show was intense!! Otep delivered an In Your Face performance! From Otep's emotionally charged vocals (she kept everyone shouting, fist shaking , chanting), to Evil J's pounding bass. They were joined on stage by new members Karma Cheema on guitar (formerly of American Headcharge), and Brian Wolff on drums. Karma and Brian blended so well with Otep and Evil J it would seem they've all been together for years. Otep wore an american flag while performing Warhead, after the song proclaiming victory over the republicans losing majority in both the house and senate. After performing Jonestown Tea she talked about how difficult it was to deliver such a message.
The show was unbelievable. The crowd will be talking about it for quite sometime. Be sure to check them out in your town. If they aren't coming to your town than vote to do so. If you get enough they will come.
Here is the setlist for December 2nd at Fletcher's in Baltimore ..
Battle Ready
Blood Pigs
Fillthee
Home Grown
My Confession
Ghost Flowers
Hooks and Splinter
T.R.I.C.
Milk of Regret
Warhead
Jonestown Tea
Menocide
It was cool that after they played 'Jonestown Tea' she mentioned that she was just talking to me about that earlier.
I talked to her about how earlier this year a young girl used 'Jonestown Tea' to tell her mother that her father was abusing her sexually. Hernando: Breaking long years of silence I brought a copy of it with me in case she wasn't aware of it. She said she hoped there were some Otep fans in prison so they could give the guy what he really deserved.
She told me how she picked up Karma from the band American Headcharge from their last tour that they were headlining. Everyone but Otep came out after the show for a meet and greet. Evil J was very pleasant and upbeat. He hung out before Otep came on and watched the other 2 bands play. Evil J and Karma were telling me how Karma and Brian came about joining as well. When Karma said he came from American Headcharge I jokingly said 'where is your loyalty now' (American Headcharge's hit was 'Loyalty') Evil J said......Its with Otep! Hee
