so, today i thunk...
1. Don't compare yourself to others, just do your best every time. I find it kind of troubling that often when I admire another I then look to myself and find self wanting. I'm a hard judge, and I don't think it's a good way to be. I met a lovely lady named Leif a few weeks ago and I liked what she said... "Treat everything you do like it's the only thing you'll ever do"... or something like that.
2. Trust your instinct! Actually this is a truism I came across fairly recently, and ever since I tell it to me daily. Simple and obvious, like all the best truths, I find that following my instinct has changed my life quite profoundly. I'm so much more confident now that I know I can trust my own decisions.
I have yet to have any hard trials since this revelation, like romance - romance always seems to cloud my mind. Goddamnit, I wanna test my instinct on some romance! Soon please? (Patience, my patience is wearing thin.) I do believe that holding out for someone I really connect with is the right thing, I do, and it comforts me. But really, this 'time' business is starting to get on my nerves. To say nothing of needing a shag.
This time of year is so bittersweet for me. I feel swaddled in longing. The cool days and the bright blue skies just make me want woodfires, cabins on rivers, drives through snowy landscapes. In short, I want to live in the Sonic Youth song Hoarfrost.
I'd like to post an appropriate pic here, and considering that this strikes to the heart of my aesthetic, my true romantic, I really ought to have a zillion such photos, but none to hand & I don't really have the energy to go searching. I'll try to make one for you all tomorrow, and in the meantime re-post this:
I have been spending money lately:
* new boots, rust/cherry red cowboy boots, maybe I'll post a pic at some stage.
* socks, legwarmers, tights... these are things I fetishise, and I have recently found the fantastic Tabio shop in Covent Garden. Hosiery Heaven!
* a nice new wide-angle lens
* various other bits and pieces of kit
Oh yeah, eScottie and I had a lovely conversation last night, during said conversation I realised how sweet it is when two friends are close enough to tell each other when they have spinach in their teeth. I think that's lovely, it makes me feel all warm inside.
I am taking photos of my friend Mia tomorrow, let's hope results are good!
P.S. The photos of Mia worked out alright.

Ha, touch!
I explained the K-hole to birdgirl here.
As for Valerie Solanas and Keith Ansell Pearson: the latter was in my journal several times (=twice) last month; the former founded the Society for Cutting Up Men (SCUM).
Innocence is doubtless a film I'll have to see, although we lag a few weeks behind you out here in the sticks...
Er, that's it!
