Lately I have felt about as interesting as one of these lovelies:
I could wish to be as cute.
So I'll try to make life more exciting soon. I think a little dance-my-ass-off and have-drunken-adventures is in order.
I have mostly been reading True Grit and watching The Singing Detective (the original BBC version). Both are wonderfully dark, the latter also has the merits of Russian and German secret agents and lots of lovely 40's music. And Red Sonia... that's Kate McKenzie, this lady is ravishing. Ha! I just said ravishing! I've been trying desperately to find more pics than the one I posted of her the other day, or to get a screen shot from the DVD, no joy.
True Grit is great. It's a proper old-time western told from the point of view of a 14 year old girl out to avenge the death of her father. She's a brilliant and sassy character, she has very definite views on life:
The marshals were unloading the prisoners and poking them along sharply with their Winchester repeating rifles. The men were all chained toegther like fish on a string. They were mostly white men but were also some Indians and half-breeds and Negroes. It was awful to see but you must remember that these chained beasts were murderers and robbers and train wreckers and bigamists and counterfeiters, some of the most wicked men in the world. They had ridden the "hoot-owl trail" and tasted the fruits of evil and now justice had caught up with them to demand payment. You must pay for everything in this world one way or another. There is nothing free except the Grace of God. You cannot earn that or deserve it.
It's gotten bitterly cold here of late, with smatterings of snow. Today I went out once, but it was lovely, I quite like this weather, there was a beautiful wood-smoke smell in the air. Yum.
I think I also need to get going on scanning some of the millions of backed up photos I have stacked here. Yes, that's next.
Oh for the gift of poetry.
And hey. I've gotta get my arse into gear and get this tree tattoo designed... I'm working on something very simple - I have small wrists so it has to be simple! If anyone has any inspirational tree illustrations to send me that'd be mighty nice.

It is a Chinese legend which tells of two singers who's proformances were so stirring it cause the dust on the rafters rise and dance for three full days.
