Hello guys, good evenin!!! All right with you? With me everything is fine. Lol
I am writing today about our reading habits and their importance in today's world. I have a book I'm reading, maybe some of you have heard about it, it's called "Dune" and so far it's very good. But reading this book made me think about my reading habits and noticed that I don't read so much anymore. Books can offer so much richness with the words and worlds being woven to give us a different lake to look at. A friend of mine suggested Frank Herbert's "Dune." I believe that suggesting books can be a very risky move because it is totally tied to personal tastes.
And that made me think of some of the great Brazilian writers like: JosΓ© de Alencar, Machado de Assis, GuimarΓ£es Rosa, Carlos Drummond de Andrade, Clarisse Lispector and so many others ... and also other writers from different parts of the world and the importance of general reading. Some authors cannot go unnoticed when they surrender their souls to their art and, in turn, to us. His works, large or small, are of cultural importance.

I 1st read DUNE about 1970 while in High School. It does open one up to living with an Ecological awareness. The pictures that Herbert's words paint are staggering. CHILDREN OF DUNE & GOD EMPEROR OF DUNE really do carry the story forward. The 1980's movie and the SyFy Channels take took some Plot elements and didn't do them justice. On Sat. I was watching a BBC chat show. The actor who played Kahl Drogo & Aquaman mention that he'd been in Jordan filming DUNE. I hope that they stick closer to the book this time around. If you like Herbert's style look for DRAGON IN THE SEA, about stealing other countries oil.
