I'm done for. It was nice while it lasted. Thanks SG Chicago people for being so rad. My health and my pocketbook have been taxed quite a bit, so I think I need to drop any extra expenses. Peace out homies.
I'm doing this program on Black History Month, but being extremely white, I'm feeling kind of weird about it. Even worse, perhaps, is that I feel genuinely sad that nobody knows shit about MY culture. My family is from Luxembourg. how many kids actually know about the freakin' Grand Duchy? I propose a forgotten countries month where all the kids have to learn about places...

Hey, glad to see you're back! And sorry to see you were ill. I hope things are better for you.
Notice how great temps in the 20s feel after that cold snap? It's pathetic, I tell ya.

Jesus Christ and all that's holy, I've been to hell and back.
I sort of fell off the face of the earth, but really it was just into the hospital. I think all is well now. I've still got some nice drugs to keep me happy, but no problems. I'm bummed because I felt like I was just getting to know a few people up...

Horray for good drugs. I have some too, but I have to give them up along with the hooch. Actually, that's what started this whole mess.
I still get to drink caffeine, so I'm planning on relying on that. For me it's largely the same as drinking anyway.
By the way, I would count yoga and church count as vices too.

Hey, where did my new friend go? Sniff, sniff.

I meant those as sad sniffs, by the way, as opposed to, like, sniffing around for you. But whichever version you prefer is fine with me.
Thanks to all of you fellow Chicagoans who felt my pain regarding the whole car towing situation. Much appreciated comments all.
This weekend I played tour guide to a friend visiting from out of town. We went to coffee shops, museums, etc. It was freezing, but the sun was shining and we had good music in the car which always makes Lake Shore Drive seem...

You took the words right out of my mouth!
There is a 3 part documentary about Chicago on PBS this week. Part one aired last night. Check it out if you get the chance. It made me really proud to live here - if nothing else but the rich history.

Fucking City of Chicago.
My car was towed yesterday (which was indeed my own fault), Not only did it cost $160 to get it out of the pound, but I had to wait in line for TWO AND A HALF HOURS at that shitty little trailer they call an office at Sacramento & Chicago. One worker made a girl cry. Another employee tried to shift...

I've said it before and I'll say it again:
I love this city but I hate the way it's run.
Sorry to hear about your ordeal. Don't let the man get you down. Seek comfort in knowing that there are others out there (like us) that feel your pain and think alike. Maybe there is hope for this city yet.

random: *note to all ladies in chicago* -- don't forget, sg bowl is this friday night. Check out the sg chicago group or the general events page for more info. I hope to see you there! Wouldn't it be something if there were more grrls than guys there? How great would that be?

I need friends. Today I met a man who is obsessed with MotorTrend magazine. It's all he reads. All he talks about. He can quote back issues. I almost asked for his number, because, clearly, this guy needs friends too. I thought better of it. So now, I'm sitting here watching a movie by myself, when I could be talking to a very nice man...

It's almost Christmas and looking at this site is making me more and more upset that I probably won't be getting a digital camera from Santa this year. I did, however, receive a Chia Head today. Is this something I should be excited about?

You're invited to join SGchicago- a seperate group discussion for SG members in your neck of the woods. Perhaps this will one day lead to some SG representation from the midwest to battle it out w/ the coasts.
If you're interested in joining, just click on the groups button up top and submit your name. Simple as that.

If you're really lusting for a digital camera, I recommend picking up the StyleCam Blink which is only $30-40. Takes pretty crappy pictures, chews through batteries real fast, and needs lotsa light to take a picture at all. But if you can get it for $30, it is worth it. A fun toy anyway.
I predict it will be the Lomo of the digital camera world.
