Hey there SG!
The holidays are officially here. For me, it's hard to believe is already almost 2017. It feels like it just turned 2016. Growing up my mom used to tell me, you'll be 30 before you know it so don't take things for granted. And she was right, soon I'll be a 60 year old lady still kicking ass in video games :) . Time has flown by, honestly in my head I still feel 19 but my real adult responsibilities constantly remind me that I'm not.
Every year we go through the same thing this time of year. We deal with the crowds to fight over toys to buy our kids, nieces, nephews and even spouses. For me this year is different. I'm avoiding the crowds this year and taking a personal approach to my gifts. I'm painting a picture for each person. And while it's going to take a while, I know it will be worth it. My 11 year old niece may not be thrilled as its not a toy but I hope she will appreciate it when she's older. I also prefer giving gifts than receiving gifts. I don't like relieving gifts because it makes me awkward or that I didn't give enough to the person who gave me such an awesome gift. I like seeing the smiles on people's faces when they open up my gifts. A genuine joy and appreciation of my thought and effort.
Even though I don't like receiving gifts , and usually tell people they don't need to get me anything, I do secretly hope I get a computer monitor. It's the only thing I actually need. I did hint to my husband but I'm not sure he gets it lol.
After xmas is new years. Last year my new years resolution was to create more art and actually sell it and I've been doing that! I've stuck it through! And I'm super proud that I've been able to give my art to others and create some cool stuff. Even doing twitch creative streams and people actually show up to watch me draw! Don't get me wrong...I'm no Bob Ross but I think I do a pretty good job :)
This year's resolution is going to be something that will take some work. I actually have a few resolutions. One is create more cosplay. I do make cosplay but it gets expensive and I've lost my job so I've been unable to buy a lot of art supplies or commission pieces from others. I have a line up of cosplay I would like to do so I'm hoping in one year I can get them all created.
My second resolution would be to LARP. I used to play d&d but there are literally no folks around here who play. My town is too serious i guess. But I've never LARPed. I LOVE being another character and doing stuff like that. It's right up my alley. I've been to LARPing groups before but just watched and never participated. Now I want to find a guild and do it for weekend activites. Oh and LARP means live action role playing for those folks who didn't know :)
And lastly I would like to work out and not to get super built or fit but just keep a daily routine that I do. I've fallen behind on it and I'll be honest, I've never been to a gym in my life or worked out. I used to do a little routine for 20 minutes of jumping Jack's etc to get the blood going for the day and that's what I'm wanting to get back into.
So I guess that's it. Do you guys have xmas plans? What gifts would you like? What are your resolutions?
I do have a set releasing in 2 months also! It's gonna be awesome!
