"From birth to death, it's just like this!"
~Zen saying
There's this fantatical preacher guy who has been showing up at school lately telling us all we're heathens, sluts, etc... I find him quite funny, though he has been more than offensive on numerous occasions, but anger is a useless emotion...I prefer to question him, his motives, his inferences about the world around him...
Why do people think that by schlepping all their worries and guilt on to some guy that did something two thousand years ago will make their lives today any more worthwhile? Why do they think that that one way of viewing the world is the only way? Why do they try to force it on people who seem to be perfectly happy in their so-called hedonism? How can one action of acceptance of a dogma or repentance of past actions change what one person has already become?
Is it emotional repression? Probably. Is it fear of the ever-progressing globalized society? Sure thing. Is it fear of accepting reality? That for all we know nothing we will ever do will ever really matter? I don't think they want to confront that as a possiblity. Why is it so hard for people to accept reality itself as divine inspiration or worthy of spiritual admiration? People want big miracles and neat stories I guess. But I'd prefer to take in the world around me and devote my life to it.
