Cars don't just pollute the air and here's why. Once someone sets foot in a car they immediately begin thinking about where they are going. This becomes their goal and their goal alone. Thus while entering traffic they think not of the people in the other cars as other people also on their way somewhere, but as merely stupid obstacles in their way. Thus individuals become agitated and begin to drive recklessly, not thinking that they have friends and family who depend on them for a happy existence.
So, we have all these agitated individuals speeding around viewing other drivers as obstacles and not keeping in mind the fact that they are depended up on by others who may or may not be in the car with them. This is how "accidents" happen. By the mere act of stepping behind the wheel of a car, far too many people fall prey to their own egos and neglect the responsibility they have towards other people to act in the safest way possible.
So the invention of a personal mode of transit has done nothing more than provided itself another hurdle in overcoming our egos and building a better, more caring, society.
