So, last weekend... Valentine's weekend my friends and I went on an amazing adventure down the California coast. We decided to go with out much planning, only a general idea of places we wanted to see. We definately couldn't pass up the monterey bay aquarium/cannery row, so we drove that direction first.
We left Stockton late that Saturday so we stayed in Salida, the room at the Willow Lodge was super cheap... there was a tv, no shampoo however... we asked the owner for some... and he handed a half used bottle of conditioner! Haha, but we jumped on the beds and smoked in the bathroom, paid cash,no incidentals.
Sunday morning we got up early and enjoyed the Daytona 500 my okey white family... I love them. We left there at around 2 and headed south to monterey, walked up and down cannery row, went to see the fishes in the aquarium. My friends were stoned when they got there so I kept loosing them! But i got some awesome pictures. The aquarium closed at 6 so we decided to find a bar, and we did, "Bullwackers". I ordered a red headed slut, yummy! We met the regular, Steve, a british man who was quite drunk when we arrived and had about 5 more drinks to our 1 each. He was trying to hit on us... i think. But he must have been 60, with british teeth, not happening. Regardless, he made for cheap entertainment. Not knowing where to go next we got on highway 1 south in the pouring rain and howling wind. We found refuge in Big Sur. We took the last room at the "Big Sur River Inn," which was quite nice, all wood rooms two queen beds, everything eco friendly. We ate in the hotel restaraunt also very nice, but pricey. We quickly found an irish pub outside of the hotel, it was quaint, but the storm was brewing outside. We were there for about two hours and the power turned on and off about 4 times... until the bartender started the generater. It was in the bar that we met Ed and Tom, two firefighters from Philly. They were the two of the sweetest boys I've ever met.
And the next day, Monday, we went on a hike with them. We ended up at a beach with purple sand. They made us hot chocolate, and I brought an assortment of snacks. It was such a great day, just talking to them about their lives and ours. We left Big sur and our boys at around 4, we had to make it home in time to go to our favorite bar, Matinee, for movie mondays! We watched V for Vendetta on the big screen that the have in the back room.
It was a great journey.
And I took Tuesday to recooperate.
