What happened? The last 24 hours brought back distant memories, long
before this thing called the Internet. I stayed up for a while,
listening as the UK 24 hour news television and radio news stations
started their rolling coverage of the US elections. The last thing I
remember were two interviews; the man who headed Bush's campaign
sounded downbeat and distant, but in stark contrast his Kerry
equivalent was positive and upbeat. The runes were good, football
teams winning, a high turn out. Then in the morning the dream had
gone. Evaporated like the mist that covers this land in the Winter
when the sun begins it's rise.
Why does this bring back memories? In the early 90s, most of the UK
population had enough of the Tory sleeze and greed. We thought that
Labour had become electable. But no. Kinnock never had the popular
vote. I remember being in taxi home from a nightclub in Cardiff,
trying hard to understand what had happened and why things would be
the same when I woke up the next day. It took another 4 years and a
Bliar revolution to kick them out.
I get scared when I think that it's only a few people in a few places
at the right time who can really make a difference.
Sorry and hope it's better next time around
I like Xume's photographs, especially the one with her hand covering
her mouth
I have taken some time off work. Haven;t gone anywhere, but enjoying
messing around my house and sleeping Bought a new scanner and
trying to get all my photographs uploaded for posterity. And my mother
now is "online" so she can nowsee them all...hehe.
And it's free listing day on eBay tomorrow!
