I don't know how many of you ladies have heard about my recent vagina saga, but I'm going to guess it hasn't been many!
About 1.5 months ago I got an abnormal Pap smear back. I thought this was super weird (and scary) because I had just had a Pap done in January and everything was fine. So, I got these results, worried myself sick, and went to my gyno on August 31 for a colposcopy. The worst part was, most definitely, the biopsy. They took one from INSIDE my cervix (which caused major cramping) and one from the OUTSIDE of my cervix (which just hurt like a bitch). I sat on the table for 45 minutes afterward with my mother stroking my head alternating between feeling like I was going to throw up, pass out, or shit myself. Not pleasant.
I left in hopes that the biopsies would turn nothing up and I would be JUST FINE. The two weeks wait was super shitty and things that looked like gross scabs and coffee grinds fell out of my vagina (the result of the medicine they put inside you post-biopsy to stop the bleeding). I've been pretty disgusted with my vagina ever since. It is a bad place.
Anyway, I got those results back on September 14th. What they told me was that they couldn't be sure if the problem in my vagina was a high grade or low grade lesion. If it was low grade they could take care of it by way of cryosurgery which would be pretty painless. But if it were high grade they would have to do a cone biopsy which looks fucking painful as hell.
So, I made another appointment to get a SECOND colposcopy/biopsy done. I had that done on September 19th. It wasn't nearly as painful and I left with a pretty good outlook on things. I saw a different doctor and she was a sweetheart and I had sort of accepted that things would be OK.
Today I got a call from my gyno's office telling me that I have a high grade lesion on my cervix and that it could indicate dysplasia. Chances are I'm going to have to get the cone biopsy.
I'm scared.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE keep up with your Pap smears! It doesn't guarantee that you won't have to go through what I'm going through right now, but it will keep things from going too far and causing cervical cancer. Better to catch it early than late, right?
