What an awesome weekend! A very sweet Mother's Day preceded by a rare and outragiously fun night of drinking and dancing with old friends.
I really don't get out a whole lot these days, but when I heard that my friend's band was playing just down the street, I couldn't past it up. In our house, we always call the band by the name my daughter suggested when they were searching for a name: Sparkle Peter and the Rainbow Unicorn Boys...It's much better than what they picked!
Hubby stayed with the sleeping children and I stayed out till three in the morning! It's so nice to get out and play with grown ups for a change! Love my kids, but mommy cannot live on motherhood alone.
So I figured I could stay out so late and drink so much because it is our tradition that on someones special day, we let them sleep in.
Well, they let me sleep in till 10:00. Grrrumph! I did not want to get up yet, but my daughter had been up for three hours and they had made me breakfast and had presents for me and were just itching to shower me with affections. How sweet, how could I not receive all that graciously, as much as I just wanted to go back to bed!
The rest of the day was nice. We went for a nice walk to the flower garden. It was full of tulips, beautiful! Hubby had all meals planned for the day which was a really nice break for me cause I usually cook. Nice sushi dinner to top it off.
Now everyone is sleeping and the house is very quite. Ahhh. I love quite at the end of the day. It's like when there's some kind of humming that you don't notice but when it goes off it's like a space opens up in your head.
I used to take that space for granted before having kids. Now that quite space is so precious it feels like a gift when it comes and I'm not too tired to sleep through it!
