Lucky me I got to watch a second Argentina match yesterday. It is great to be able to cheer on your favorite team. Once again they did not disappoint. Messi the Great scored two goals including a free kick so perfect the goalie didn't even bother to try and stop it. I must say though this argentina crowd was loud but not near the level that the crowd was at Belo Horizonte. Argentina fans have this one cheer which is awesome, I'll try to post a video of it here after I get back to the states.
Speaking of the states, the US officially got past the so called group of death and advanced to the round of 16. Back when the groups were assigned most people threw the US team away daying they had no chance to make it out of the group. Granted a group with the strongest African team, Ghana, Portugal which has Ronaldo, and Germany is a scary group. But I kept telling people Portugal isn't all at good and all the previous matches against Ghana which the US lost were close and competitive. So long as we beat Ghana we were past the group. Well turns out I was right. Now the US goes up against a winnable opponent in either Algerie or Belgium. I have really high hopes for them but unfortunately I will miss that match because I'll be in the plane back the New York.
I have to start thinking about getting souveniers. Lots of people back home I need to get something for and I'm always indescisive about what to get. What really makes a good travel gift? I'm of the mentality it has to be something only found here, which is harder then you might think since 90% of stores are international and available in the USA.
