Finding lightness in hideous situations....
This from the crisis in Dili
Under questioning from Today's Jessica Rowe as to why the army was not doing enough to end the violence, Brig. Michael Slater said that a Nine producer had positioned armed soldiers behind him for the live cross to make it appear hazardous.
"Jessica, I feel quite safe here, but not because I have got these armed soldiers behind me that were put there by your stage manager here to make it look good," he said. "I don't need these guys here."
A flustered Rowe quickly apologised.
"Brigadier, I didn't realise that those soldiers were placed there specifically for the shot. I apologise."
But the newsreader returned to her line of attack, saying news footage showed the streets were still dangerous.
Brig. Slater replied that the footage Nine was showing was "a couple of days old".
GENIUS.
I will return to posting about women in underwear presently.
