So - the time has come for me to leave SG. I've stuck around because of three things:
My freinds list
Ash
Lithium Picnic
But with the recent controversy about the government's "War on Porn", and, AS I SEE IT, SG's utterly ridiculous response of pulling down any pictures they they supposedly *think* might be problematic, thusly stirring up the emotions of much of their membership - *and here's why* I SEE IT as ridiculous - to my knowledge, SG HAS NOT BEEN CENSORED. I understand that they are removing the images of their own volition.
And then, I log into MySpace this morning, and the group SG SUX has been deleted. This is not *as I see it*. It is fact. And....*as I see it*, due to the timing of the removal of SG SUX, and the previous removal of Fuck SG, I am of the opinion that SG's *ownership* or perhaps *staff* voiced complaints about both groups to MySpace staff and they were removed. Here's why I believe this:
Some posts were made that could be construed as libelous.
Some posts were made that reflected very badly on SG's projected public image.
If it walks like a duck, talks like a duck, and acts like a duck, it's probably a duck.
I was not happy with what I was hearing from former models about how they were treated. I tried to remain objective, know ing that many companies have disgruntled employees and are not neccessarily bad companies. I also tried to remain objective when I heard from numberous members who were, as I understand it, removed from the site for expressing dissent on SG.
HOWEVER, add to this the recent, *as I see it*, evidence of dissent being censored per request of SG's *staff*, addressed above, and you have, *in MY view*, a company that isn't honest enough for me to contine giving them my money.
I realize that my $6 a month isn't a lot, but this much is true:
I WILL NOT BE SILENCED WHEN I FEEL THE NEED TO VOICE AN OPINION ABOUT A COMPANY.
Especially when I don't even do it ON said company's website.
That is....until now.
Points to ponder, everyone.
