So I was thinking today.....about "people like us".
Yeah, you know - "US". The Freaks. The "Fringe Element".
Counterculturists.
We who take the "Road Less Travelled".
We who collectively flip the proverbial middle finger at the rest of the world.
We even mark ourselves deliberately.
I know, I know. Some might protest, citing that "But this is just ME. I'm not *looking* to be different. It's just who I AM."
Well.....duh Different is different, whether it's by choice or it just comes naturally.
Some of us are vegetarian or vegan, peace loving, animal protecting, nature exploring.....
Others are angry - sneering, snarling, stomping about in hostility - literally and/or figuratively.
Some of us are truly disturbed....some of us experience what they refer to as ennui.
Some of us have tried to conform - to do the march of the toy soldier - to "sit up straight, learn our lines, wipe that smug look off our faces, and behave!!"
Others never bothered...or were never given the chance to.
Me personally - I'm happy to claim life-long residency in the "Fringe".
These two quotes come to mind:
"My hammer crashes fiercely against it's prison" - Freidrich Neitszche
"Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds." - Albert Einstein
Can you dig it?

BTW, once I had a cockatiel who decided that this mole on my chest didn't belong there, so she decided to chew it off. She half-succeeded. So I know all about bad pets coming close to death.
