camping was interesting..
i didnt see much wildlife.. i thought we were going to another campsite that i had already been to before that was amazing.. in sarasota called myakka.. there its lush with tall trees and undergrowth.. air plants and spanish moss hang in the trees..
this campground however had suffered hurricane katrina and a controlled burn only a few months ago.. there werent many trees.. and our campsite looked like the sahara desert littered with RV's..
i did see two gopher tortoises..
which apparently are endangered species..
i went fishing with my folks and their friends..
holding onto my mothers chinese crested dog that was shivering because we were soaked from rain..
no alligators..
i saw ONE alligator the entire time..
had we gone to the other campground i thought we were going to.. i would have seen hundreds..
the only person that caught any fish was my mom..
they ate one of them.. and he is pictured below..
i thought about her clasping him in her hands with a rag trying to hold him still while he gasped for air..
and it made me want to be vegetarian again..
this however cannot happen until i leave here because im trying to eat all the cuban food that i can fit into my little pudgy belly..
im enjoying the sunshine and warm weather..
its a welcome break from the 40 some-odd days of straight rain back in the northwest.. i leave before the sun comes up on saturday morning..
i never got over the time change this time..
ive been staying up until 3am every night..
which has been frustrating for me because i usually go to bed early..
