aug 19 2010: BYE Y'ALL. i'll be back after i heal from my surgery.
thank you for all the birthday wishes. i am now 25 and it feels exactly the same as 24, except that my bank account now costs me $7 per month, as if i have any more money now that i am 25. in fact, i have much less money than i did when i was 21 and 22, when i worked full-time in an office making websites.
my girlfriend made me these beautiful rainbow pancakes and left them warming in the oven for me when she went to work on the morning of my birthday.
later that day, for the first time in my life, even though it happens every year on my birthday, i saw the perseid meteor shower.
on friday i celebrated my birthday with friends and ate a rainbow cake, also made by my lovely girlfriend. oh, i love rainbows!
the icing was nut butter and walnuts... it looked gross but tasted absolutely delicious.
this is approximately how drunk i got on my birthday party day:
whew... rosy. then, over the weekend, we celebrated nine months of love together, which involved a trip to bowen island.
all-in-all it was a delightful weekend and i'm afraid i now have almost 200 unread emails in my inbox. *sigh* so overwhelming. does anyone else have trouble with those types of obligations? after five days offline i'm afraid even to check facebook. i sometimes have nightmares about how many things i have to do that i haven't done.
what does that say? oh... vegetarianism? right! another HUGE part of my life is my dedication to an ethical vegan lifestyle. that usually takes the form of trying to help other people choose better foods and food sources in their own lives as often as possible. so, if you live in vancouver, here are some places to get vegan pizza. yum.

And yes, I absolutely have the "jesus christ, the internet's facilitation of constant contact is kind of making me twitchy 'cos it gives me too many ways to fail to follow up despite my best intentions" panics. Particularly on Facebook. Stupid Facebook.
