BOOKS ARE FOR SHARING. that is why my personal library is missing some of my favourites... i know that i have lent them out, and i can't remember to whom, but i hope (know) that they are being passed along from person to person and perhaps those people are learning great things from them. other people's ideas augment our own and expand our consciousnesses.
that said, i have just found out that this book is out and i want to read it. i enjoyed his first two novels very much. they gave me words for feelings i'd felt but had never described before. they made sense to me.
jonathan safran foer is a young author. i like young authors; they give me hope for myself. i have many, many ideas and i want to share them with anyone who wants to listen, but i am not very good at writing stories. not very good at putting narratives together in a cohesive and entertaining way. next semester, i am taking a creative non-fiction writing class. i will emerge from it better at something that i want to be better at.
i have just discovered that my dear windowsill is going to be in a calendar for the 2010 year. i am going to be in a calendar, too. we will have to put both of these calendars up on our cluttered walls. our friends can come over and see our photographs and also the dates of months. i think i am june in the PROHAB (protection of heads and brains) ladies bike calendar.
here are some more photographs from my 365 project, and some other lately taken photos.
(part of my tank girl costume, from friday the 30th)
(my "james dean" greaser costume from saturday the 31st)
(this is what i am wearing today.)
on friday night i went to a halloween-themed show called "premature ejackulantern" featuring some amazing local talent, of which only one band had not been previously photographed multiple times by me. that band, the new values, was fantastic. i will probably photograph them again.
the other two bands who played were applebonbon's magnificant glam dance punk spectacular, fake shark - real zombie! and the newly remonikered run with the heard.
i am really pleased with the photos i took. the venue was well-lit and i ended up with almost 200 photos that i was in love with (and that's with my camera having died two songs into the last set!). here are some that i particularly like:
the new values
fake shark - real zombie!

and one from the costume contest:
i want to take photos of my roommate soon. we're trying to find the time.

It does seem to happen in waves, I'll agree with that. I've had someone argue to me that within a group of friends it's arguable that someone would be afraid of 'breaking with the group first' in making that leap. I'm not sure if there's any validity to that, or if it depends on the people/relationships/dynamic.

Both Bukowski and Murakami are amazing
