HELLO LOVE,

Where have I been? I went up to Noosa (a beach town north of Brisbane) for a relaxingly debaucherous weekend at a beautiful vacation house; that was nice. There was barking sand (which I will rename 'zipping sand' as it makes zip-zip noises when you walk in it) and an infinity pool and a praying mantis. All of this and more has been photographed and will eventually be uploaded, though I can't make any promises as to when.

Had a bit of a computer scare and I'm still not sure it's back to life, though I am using it right now. It wasn't starting up for a while and I don't know what happened to make it start up this time. Maybe my lack of hope. Things around me always seem to know when I'm not expecting them to work properly; they defy my pessimism and show me that it's a bright world after all.

The sky has been heavy with rain these past days. I love it; it feels like a shroud, a cozy cover enveloping me with brooding artsy moodiness. Makes me want to - well, paint, and I have been. I don't know what to draw pictures of. I always draw naked and half-naked girls. I need to learn some new tricks.

Have been doing a lot of musing on what I'll do when I get back to Canada. There's so many options and yet so few; that is to say that not very many of them are simple, and the ones that are simple are the ones I want least, but when I open it up and start entertaining options that will require a bit of work, there's just so much I could do. I could move back to Victoria and go to UVic for Visual Arts, or I could head out east and go to school in Toronto or Montreal, or I could move back to Vancouver and get my old job back and resume the life I left behind with all the lovely people in it, or I could stay in Calgary where the money is good and the weather sucks and get a place there, maybe go to school... or I could get a one-year work visa and come back to Australia as soon as I've paid off my travel debts.

Gosh.

It's very overwhelming.

My cat is missing. If you believe in prayer or wishes or positive energy and wouldn't mind hoping for him to go home to his surrogate mama, I would really appreciate it. Thank you.

(Me, on the way to Burning Man in August.) (Have I posted this one before?)

(Playa dust.)

Tell me something you really want to do in the next year that you are gonna try your hardest to achieve.

Thanks, if it were based on merit alone I would have faired better, but life is full of injustices tongue

I'm pretty much perfect for the transient lifestyle. I read this book last summer and I was surprised at how easily and cheaply it could be done. Now it's just a matter of following through.

I'm thinking of getting one of these so if I do travel it could just as easily fit in a jacket pocket. It's only $400 and there's already a tutorial on how to put OS X on it. I'm getting pretty sick of my giant clunky MacBook Pro.

I'm just waiting till Macworld to see what Apple comes out with.
