I'm in Melbourne now, staying with Rys, who has a really great couch on which I can stretch out and read Skinny Legs and All - except - oh, wait, I left that at Marni's. I also forgot to return her keys... oops. My key pocket was empty! (Sometimes when I drink too much sangria I put my keys in my change pocket. I have a very complicated utility belt, obviously.)
I have been having so much fun. I managed to get to the beach in Sydney where I played in the waves and got very very salty and laughed out loud. That was delightful... the water was so much warmer than it ever gets in Canada. I love Australia very much, but I know I say that in every entry here.
Tonight Rys took me out and showed me some of what's best about Melbourne; that is, its hidden jewels of quirky bars and restaurants with excellent fresh food and good drinks in unique settings. Everyone told me I'd love Melbourne when I was in Sydney and I didn't think it was possible that I'd love any city more than I loved Sydney... and I'm not saying I do, but I already adore both.
Here are some photos from my trans-Tasman flight (from NZ to Aus)...
Goodbye, verdant Aotearoa...
This one looks like something out of a sci-fi movie from the 1970s, I think.
Sydney appears!
Oh, and in case you've been following the tales of my lonely heart, I did indeed have a torrid (though brief) love affair in Sydney. That's all you get to know.
Describe your perfect day to me. In reality, not a fantasy world - the day you'd have if the weather was just right, your favourite events were available, your fridge was stocked with food you like, and your preferred companion(s) were available.
