I've linked to Jenna Moran (creator of the incredible indie RPG Nobilis) before, but I recently discovered that she'd put a whole bunch of free PDFs of various RPG-related content on her site back. If you're interested in roleplaying games and/or systems, you really ought to check these out. If you're not, but you like unusual, evocative fantasy concepts, there's enough material here in examples and interstitial fictive bits and such to get your engines going.
Projects: a Manual of Ambition A system for handling major projects in RPGs, particularly things like mad science. Originally conceived for a gothic horror game, thus the use of rules re: corruption and that sort of thing. Aside from that, there's some cool example content. For example, the gothic future Empire of Ipswich, sending an obsessive commander and fleet of ships through the cold-haunted dark of space to reclaim old Earth from the shadows. It doesn't end well.
Wisher-Theurgist-Fatalist A full, if slight, RPG, with a very deliberate abbreviation. (The supplement posted later is called That Languidly Dreamt Raif.) Haven't had a chance to investigate it yet.
Creatures, Clothed in Strangeness The second portion of what was originally going to be the Society of Flowers supplement to Nobilis before many things intervened. The first is posted elsewhere on that site, but I don't feel like digging right now. And if you don't own Nobilis, it won't make that much sense right now and you can't buy Nobilis to make up for that as all three of the companies that have published it have gone out of business in turn. If I were an RPG company, I would think twice about picking up Nobilis, great as it is.
Dreaming Waters Possibly the crowning item of the above. It's a 500-some page PDF that constitutes the majority of a full on new RPG, from she who made Nobilis, for free. That's a rare treat. Unfortunately, as she notes, it's not done yet - there are bits she hasn't gotten to, there's polishing she hasn't done, etc. This may happen later. If it doesn't, there's a supplementary PDF listing what's missing and the ideas she hadn't had time to expand herself, which should at least give one somewhere to go with it.
