Have I mentioned that I hate signature required delivery? Have I mentioned that I hate it a really really lot? That I think it fucking defeats the entire purpose of having things shipped to my door? Yeah. Fuck.
Also, I hate Microsoft. Seething hatred.
Specifically - my Xbox 360 broke. Many of you may know this already. I shipped it off, it arrived, they "repaired" it (as far as I can tell, they chucked it and brought out a refurb, but that's fine) and shipped it back. It was scheduled to arrive today. And it did. Kind of. Except that Microsoft decided that it required an adult signature to be delivered. Which means that a) it cannot be delivered to me - I am not home during the delivery hours because I work, and I cannot be home during the delivery hours, because I work. I cannot waive the signature requirement because of the specific type of the requirement, and because it's the shipper's decision. I most likely cannot have one of the renters sign for it because I don't think any of them are 21 yet. b) I cannot go get it, because it is held at a shipping center in some godforsaken corner of the Twin Cities that's ridiculously impractical to get to without a car. c) In short, I cannot actually receive my Xbox.
I understand that the whole signature thing is a security measure to help alleviate the possibility of my package being stolen. But I would surely fucking prefer the minute possibility of someone stealing a package from me - something which has never happened in over 8 years of living here and receiving hundreds of packages a year - to my not actually receiving the package because the shipping company won't deliver it.
(Yes, I have a way around this, in the sense that I can and have bothered a friend to help me out, probably tomorrow, but there's no reason I should have to do that.)
The worst part is that it's invariably the stuff I'm most anticipating, because they're the new (or in this case, old) shinies that I've spent way too much on.
