Been kind of a mixed day. My mother's husband's father, Roger, had been in increasingly ill health for a while, which eventually led to his move to an assisted living facility along with his wife, who's so far gone in Alzheimer's at this point that she barely reacts to the world around her. We visited them there around Christmastime. As places to go to wait to die run, it seemed pretty nice. And I guess that's the last time I'm going to see him, because he died early this morning.
Now, I didn't really know either of them that well - saw them at some scattered family occasions over the last 8 or 9 years, but the generational gap was large and those gatherings inevitably had a bunch of closer family members at them - so I'm not terrifically broken up about it. And he certainly had a good run - he was well over 80 and had had a very full life. But I imagine it's rather harder on my mom's husband (and probably her - she knew them better). Funeral early next week sometime. It'll mark my first...and hopefully last for some time to come.
On the other hand, my new Acer V193W 19" widescreen LCD monitor showed up today, and it's a hell of a thing. Sharp, clear, bright colors, lots of viewing space....World of Warcraft and World in Conflict both look stunning at 1440x900. So this is what I've been missing out on.

Well, the way my time is consumed at the moment, it's either reading or bioshock. I'm going with reading for now![wink](https://dz3ixmv6nok8z.cloudfront.net/static/img/emoticons/wink.6a5555b139e7.gif)
