Well, the new motherboard arrived. My friend and I installed it along with everything else, toted it back over to the computer desk, plugged stuff in, pressed the power button and............
Nothing.
Fucking hell.
So it's not the motherboard. There are two reasons to believe this: One, it's fucking well impossible that three consecutive motherboards could have been DOA when nothing else I've ever bought from Newegg has had any issues (I mean, aside from whatever the real problem item is). And it can't be a congenital flaw in the product or a stealth incompatibility, because the new motherboard is a completely different make and model. The second reason is that the new motherboard has a power LED that lights up when it's receiving power. It lit up, but the computer did not turn on. Ergo, the issue is elsewhere.
However, Newegg checks returned products, and accepted both previous motherboards as DOA. This indicates to me, along with the fact that not long after the power LED on this motherboard turned on, it turned back off again, that the problem item is in fact fragging the initially perfectly fine motherboard. Between this unfortunate prospect, and the fact that I still have no way of telling which of the remaining two items is the culprit (CPU or RAM), I do believe I'm just going to RMA the lot and let Newegg sort it out, rather than pay several more shipping fees and waste weeks with item by item checks.
Also, one other package "arrived" today. Since the only other thing I can recall ordering online in the last while is the used PSP, and since the package was insured, I'm guessing that was it. Which would be pretty amazingly fast shipping for a private eBay seller. I say "arrived" in quotes, though, because instead of the package I got a missed delivery notice from my mailman. I really prefer it when they just drop off the damn package instead of making you sign for it. I'm not home most of the time when mail and/or packages come, because they come during the afternoon. I actually was home today, and awake and I still missed it, because they knocked at the front door (I'm assuming) instead of the side door. Front door's the renters, side door's me. Grr. And then I went to the post office to collect it, forgetting that postmen are not magical beings capable of teleportation and would not necessarily have made it back to the post office to drop off such things by then. Which indeed he had not. So I guess I get to collect it tomorrow.
Alsoalso: Chibi-Robo is very much fun.
