Well. I finally did it. I broke down and bought a PSP. I saw that the MSRP was down to $170, which is still too high for what the system offers. But eBay...well, *generally* you can nab stuff on eBay for at least 15-20% less than MSRP, and I figured something as a) not terribly successful and b) wide market as the PSP would be a prime bargain hunting opportunity.
I was really hoping to manage something like my Dreamcast deal ($50 or so got me the system, four controllers, three memory cards, and a dozen or so games including many of the best for the system). But I knew it was a long shot and in the end I didn't have the patience to deal with endless rounds of being outbid. After fighting over a couple of auctions for a bit, I went ahead and bid on the one I eventually wound up winning. I knew I probably would because it was sitting at 37 minutes to go with no prior bids.
And so I shelled out $149 including shipping, and I will be receiving a used PSP with the standard accessories from the value pack as well as a 2 gig memory card (MSRP $60). Not as crazy good a deal as I might have liked, and I was hoping to get a bundled game or two as well to have something to play on my new system, but I have Gamefly so it's not a big issue. Besides, I don't think there's anything out for PSP that I know for absolutely sure, sight unseen, that I want. And most of the game bundles were sports games and/or the dregs of the system anyway.
I've also got yet another motherboard on its way. Maybe this time I'll be able to upgrade my computer like I've been trying to do for two months or more now. Big spender me. Yay.
