What a wonderful Christmas present Blizzard has given me.
Some background: I ceased playing World of Warcraft in September of 2005. Late this November, a friend of mine offered to pay to have my character transferred to the server they play on with several of their other friends. As lack of company was one of my main reasons for quitting, I decided to take them up on this offer. Only, it turned out I couldn't log in. Something about my account being closed. I decided this had to be an error and tried again a few times over the next couple of days. Alas, no such luck. I called Billing and Support, waited 20 minutes on hold, and they informed me that my account had been reopened in September 2006, and that it had been subsequently banned for illegal use of a third party program. Well, I sure as hell didn't do that, so some jackass must have hacked my account. Also, I was supposed to have received a notification when this occurred, but didn't. They say they'll have Account Admin resend it. I wait ten days, nothing.
So I contact Blizzard Account Admin directly via the web-form on the WoW website. I wait a week. Nothing. So I call Billing and Support again (you can't call Account Admin), wait another 20 minutes, and after spending another 10-15 minutes trying to get the rep to understand what my problem actually is, confirm that the e-mail was in fact resent and there was mail after my web-form attempt also. None of it reached me. So I have them resend these to me directly, wait an hour and a half...no e-mail. Billing and Support again, 20 min hold, change my registered e-mail account and have them reforward. This time I get it almost immediately. Yep, sure enough, the server and character name listed are completely unfamiliar to me. So I forward this on to Account Admin along with things like my secret question answer, my CD-key, and my static IP, so that they can hopefully confirm that I was not the one playing that character, but I am the registered account owner, and they can reopen the account and maybe even unfuck my characters, should they be fucked. This was Wednesday. And I wait, and wait, and nothing. So I'm thinking maybe something's still screwy with the e-mail, but no chance to talk to Billing and Support again until Tuesday because they have normal work hours and aren't available on weekends or holidays.
And then just now I receive a terse e-mail from Account Admin informing me that they reviewed it again, came to the same decision, and have now permanently closed the account, no recourse possible.
WHAT THE FUCK?! I did not do this. I was not given any opportunity to prove this, I was not given any details that I could argue, just "No, your priceless collector's edition account is gone forever."
So fuck them. Fuck them hard, in the ass, with a farm combine. I do not need this kind of shit, and I do not have any intention of ever wasting my money on their game again. I'd encourage those of you reading this to do likewise, but....fuck, I'm some guy on the internet you barely know. Little competition with the Warcrack.

saeval:
Ha. well you have affected at least my decision about the game. my friend wanted me to start up an actual account. he gave me the ten day trial, I did that, and I was considering buying the game, but that is just horrible costumer service. I've lost what little interest was peaked by that game.
