The surgery was a success!
I was worried about the fact that I have a cold, and the night before surgery I had a really bad fever. This could have meant that they would have to postpone the surgery, which would have been very inconvenient for me.
My temperature was back to normal the morning before the surgery, so they went ahead with it. I came out of the anaesthetic just fine, and stole as much hospital apple juice as I could! I hadn't had anything to eat or drink for almost 15 hours!
I'm in a "pretty" half cast wrapped in gauze and a tensor bandage:
(I can peek down the thumb hole to get a look at the stitches )
They've got me on Tylenol 3's, though after last night, I really don't think that I should be taking them that often. Of course, pain killers take away the pain, but they also have this nasty side effect of you not being able to know if you're being too hard on yourself. I woke up this morning in some pretty awful pain, more than likely caused by the fact that I was using that hand last night when I shouldn't have been. Learning the hard way is something that I do best!
I'm still sick today, but it seems to be dying down. It's rather stuffy in this apartment, so it feels much worse than it actually is. I need to get myself a humidifier and a neti pot (anyone know where to get neti pots for cheap??), too bad it's a holiday.
Star Wars marathon on Space today! WHOOT!
