SNOWBOARDING! It's my new thing.
I went to Val'Thorens in France with my uni from the 23rd to the 31st of January with the snowsports club!
It was some of the best times i've had in a while.
Only drawback was the 26 hour coach ride there from Glasgow! With a few minor drawbacks on the trip there;
- Guy brought his dads passport, had to pay 100quid for his mate to meet him at Carlisle to bring him the right one.
- Ran out of diesel 100 feet from the petrol station. Had to get RAC to air out the engine.
- Some cunt of a guy thought it'd be cool to have sex with his girlfriend in the back of a unlocked lorry while we were at the service station, cost us 40minutes of waiting. Couple of people yelled and slapped him.
- 87 People, One Coach, 500 Cans of Redbull, Liquor and Beer. One Septic Tank.
-Climbing a mountain in heavy snow on a coach results in going 20mph with chains on.
All in all delayed by 4 hours, so instead of arriving at the resort for 7pm Saturday (Having left on the Friday), arrive at 11pm.
Snow was AMAZING. Fresh powder, really sunny, great conditions. Was still quite new to snowboarding so i took it easy and only went on green and blue runs, had a great time. We started drinking around 7pm, forgot how much snowboarding takes it out of you, it was a Scottish Themed night, and i got TRASHED. Accidentally ran into a girl 2 years below me in school and freaked out a little .
Note: All of us, went out, EVERY NIGHT.
2nd day in I had a few bad wipeouts and hit my head around 11 times. Almost had a concussion, had a constant pounding headache. Didn't have a helmet totally fucked with my confidence. Decent night out, met most of everyone, ended up at a Drum and Bass club with a break dancing circle and all.
3rd Day, rented a helmet, couldn't do a thing, it was like i never snowboarded in my life, my body couldn't move the way i wanted it to and i fell instead, confidence at an all time low. Didn't help that there was a
snowstorm and you couldn't see 10 feet in front of you. Went to see a live band play at a English pub, was pretty lame until one of the bar girls guided us to dance on the table and poured shots into our mouths, then it was great music, dancing and fun!
4th day, severely hungover, fell alot more, practised technique and basic stuff alone on the beginner slopes to try and get my confidence back. Fancy dress night! My aim was to face paint myself into a zombie, until someone turned around and said "Oh you make a cool joker!" so i improvised myself into a joker. My friend Melissa thought it would be a good idea to curl my hair. Shaved my mates head into a mohawk (consented of course). Amazing night out.
5th day, had an awesome night, mastered a blue run and gained my confidence back, i turned out way better than i was before due to all the technique practise i had. Really pleased with myself. The last night involved a Rubix Cube Night. Everyone wore the 6 colours of clothing out and the aim was to go back wearing one colour! Great Banter.
Last day, Went to the highest point in Europe with alot of people that i hadn't been on the slopes with, burned down the fresh powder, with a stunning view, extremely fast and confident. Nothing like that feeling.
Bus home was uneventful, read a book and chatted to people and slept. Home sweet home!
Since then i've been going to uni, enjoying myself and being more social. I've quit World of Warcraft since i have literally done EVERYTHING and see almost no point in logging on.
Went to a freestyle night at the Xscape last Friday, was really fun, hurts when you wipeout since it's icey and hard, but i now have the ability to handle basic jumps and boxes!
Went to Glenshee on Sunday. Woke up at 5.30am, Picked up a few mates, 2hr 30minute drive there. WORLD'S DODGIEST DRIVE EVER. Back roads, 7 miles of Zig zag blind spot turning. And it was -7 degrees. We got there for just before 9am, and STILL had to wait 2hours in a queue to hire equpment. It was SO busy. 20 minutes per lift on the slopes. Also fell alot trying to go up the pomas, that annoyed me since i never fell while actually boarding.
All in all wasn't worth it, only got around 7 runs in before it got dark and we had to head home.
Going to Pierced'n pInk on Friday, looking forward to it!
