a kick in the balls & a pat on the head:
my car broke down in Holland on the way out to a farewell Super Nintendo Project session on saturday night. Sean (Rediculis) is boarding a bus bound for Florida later today. we'll still be making tracks via e-mail & whatnot. Goat (Slave One) & I will probably be taking a trip to Florida to do a couple SNP shows this summer. in retrospect i didn't expect Sean to stay in MI for as long as he did anyway. he's known for being a nomadic flight risk. even though i won't miss his open grave-like breath, terrible b.o. & annoying freestyling (where he kicks two lines & laughs at his own punchlines), things won't be the same. my car's still in a garage in Holland & hasn't even been looked at up to this point. i biked 10-12 miles yesterday to get to an appointment (my friend accidentally left his phone ringer off!), so i'm far from helpless. it'd be one thing if the weather was nice, but it's winter revisited right now. it sure is exhausting & discouraging for me to rely on people to get around. what makes matters worse is that i had to ask my mom to put the repairs on her card since i was a responsible adult the last couple weeks, buying 4 new tires & getting my plates/tags/insurance all legal. not cool.
i found out that both the Electrik Villains & Super Nintendo Project were nominated for best group for the Grand Rapids Hip-Hop Coalition's first annual awards. coincidentally, i didn't even know these awards existed. it is cool to receive some level of local recognition for the two groups i dj for. also, Norm Biz & Mr. Smith, both members of the EV crew, were each nominated for best mixtape artist. i'm featured on both of their works, which i didn't know existed either, as i'm not aware of any official mixtapes that were released. it must be for some cd-r demos they passed out hand to hand. i have a handful of newly booked shows coming up in the next few weeks too (an EV show at a spot by eastern & michigan in GR on the 21st, an EV show toscano's in GR on the 28th & lemonjello's in holland on 6/9 with Slave One/Cloud Cluster). there's a couple other shows coming up in discussion that i'll probably be djing too.
all in all, these disparate events should cancel each other out & leave me on an even keel, but i feel the kick in the balls a lot more.

That made me laugh, a lot.
Fuck cars, I hate all of them. Except the Stuntman's car in Grindhouse. (I'm whoring that movie to everyone, go see it if you haven't.)
As for my friend with no TV, he still watched Arrested Development and Mr. Show with us all the time on his computer so he's not one of THOSE assholes.
If I see your friend I'll follow him around all night shouting his name from a distance and then pretend it wasn't me when he looks around.
